PLEASE EXCUSE THIS change from the usual format. I am experimenting with using Procreate. Teaching myself digital tools that seem to be intuitive for everyone else but are completely opaque to me is very tedious but I think the payoff is worth it: clearer images and easier-to-read text. What do you think?

I ran out of time to write a letter today! It's been a hell of a week, as you all know. It is also the 250th anniversary of Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine.

Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.

Food for thought, even 250 years later.
